September Memories On October 14th, the Student Council sponsored the annual Homecoming dance. This year the dance was called AUTUMN MIST. Spirit chains hung from the ceiling, and Autumn colors were everywhere. This gave the commons a warm, romantic feeling. Couples danced to the band, SLIP STREAM, which played from 8p.m.-l 1p.m. During the dance, if you and your date wanted a lasting memory, Bob McKinley was taking pictures on stage.

Foreign Exchange Students Express Their Ideas Katsuko Uesugi is a long way from her home in Nara, Japan, but in the true spirit of Homecoming, her new friends at Clinton High School have made her feel welcome and at home. “I miss my friends and my Mom in Japan, but I have new friends here, and 1 like Clinton very much.” By January our heavy winter snowfalls introduced her to a season she had only experienced mildly before. “In Nara we have about two inches of snow about ten days of each year. If we have snow one day in Japan, the next day it is gone. 1 have enjoyed sledding (although I had a lot of bruises from it at first) and ice skating on real ice.” We will miss Katsuko when she returns to her home. She will take with her a better understanding of the English language and the American people, but, even more importantly, she leaves with us the memory of a warm and affectionate girl whom we all loved. They’re Learning A For Eric Brito life in Clinton is surely a change from that in his hometown of Caracas, Venezuela. “For me, Clinton was a little town, because 1 came from a city of 3,000,000 people. In a city like that, everything happens, and nobody sees you for a long time.” While staying with the Robert Case family, he has made friends here at Clinton High School and has learned many things about America. “1 never saw snow in my life, but 1 didn’t expect to see that much like 1 saw in Clinton!” Like his American “family” we will miss Eric greatly when he leaves. He has made impressions on our lives that will long be remembered. 7
