She looked as happy and gay as she did in her high school days. A copy of the Raleigh Times flashed before my eyes. A large headline dazzled me. Senator Allie Lee Graham leaves for Europe for two months. President Frank Kell and his private secretary Evangeline Hobbs leave on the same ship. I looked into a court room. A trial was going on. I rubbed my eyes and glanced at the platform. There stood the judge, Rufus Crumpler and a lawyer, Stuart Royal. The flames fliekered brightly then died low. Oh! what a beautiful room, and all those pretty dresses of all colors and designs. Who owned this beautiful department? Suddenly I saw a tag on the floor which read Madame Maria Hobbs, designer. Next I saw the Society Sheet of the State paper. I read, Miss Elizabeth Graham will ente1'tain next week in honor of a bride-elect, Miss Ma1'ia1111:1 Herring. The next scene was in New York. I saw a stage and on the stage was Alice Smith, an actress. She was singing Yes, sir, thatls my baby. A beautiful winding river loomed before me. A ear stood at the driveway, and there was a figure standing beside the car. From under a large hat peeped the smiling face of Bessie Mae Smith. A man-a tall handsome man-appeared at her side. He smiled and spoke and-they left. Wake up you sleepy head, and go to bed. You've been here for two hours nodding. I looked and saw my mother standing over me. t PETE BUTLER, Proplr ffl.
