([J- Z£±LcL£nt ± J £±iag£ Congratulations Class of 1986! On behalf of all the College Family I am honored and pleased to extend to you our heartiest congratulations upon the success you have achieved during your Clinton Community College experience. As you move from this experience to a new career or continue your pursuit of higher education we remind you that we stand ready to offer not only our encourage- ment and best wishes but also our help as you may deem it necessary. We believe that you will be successful in your new pursuits and wish for you that each success will be satisfying and rewarding. [j sdicution Dr. Alfred B. Light, a Plattsburgh native, attended M.A.I. and completed his B.S. degree at Plattsburgh State University College. He received his master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his doctorate at Pennsylvania State University. President Light has held many positions in higher education, making numerous contributions to the field. He was a member of the teaching faculty and an ad- ministrator at Plattsburgh State before being selected as the Vice-President of Adiron- dack Community College in Glens Falls where he served with distinction from 1969 to 1971. In 1971, Dr. Light was appointed as the second President of Clinton and has cheerfully worked with many students in this capacity. Under his leadership, our college has increased its student population many times and has witnessed the growth of new programs in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Technology, Criminal Justice, and numerous certificate opportunities to meet the needs of Clinton County residents. Dr. Light had the honor of serving as President when the first class graduated in 1971 and he will preside over the graduation ceremonies before his retirement, when the class of 1986 receive their degrees on May 24th. A marked improvement in college facilities has taken place under his direction. Complete renovations of the classrooms and faculty offices was accomplished; and more importantly, this last year, Dr. Light has worked with the Board of Trustees in finalizing their approval for the construction of a new gym, stage and swimming pool complex. Both Dr. Light and his wife, Eddie, have been dedicated parents, and all six of their children, Steve, Scott, John, Debbie, Lisa and Andy, have contributed to the life of our community. It is with special pleasure that the staff of “Horizon” dedicate this book to the man who has left such a positive mark on Clinton Community College, ALFRED B. LIGHT. We, the students at Clinton, wish you and your family the best of health, happiness and good fortune in your well deserved retirement. 6
