Text from Pages 1 - 90 of the 1984 volume:

This year's Praecursor is dedicated to Hazel Couture. She has been here at CCC for four years helping her son, Kevin, get an education. Kevin has had cerebral palsy since birth but he hasn't given up and neither has Hazel. Since they live in Saranac, Hazel gets started every morning by 5:30AM. Both parents help Kevin for the pleasure of seeing their son get an education. When Hazel arrives at CCC, she has to have help getting Kevin out of the car. Parking can be a problem for them sometimes. Hazel puts in long hours with Kevin but she says it is worth it. Kevin already has an AA in Liberal Arts and is now completing the requirements for a Certificate in Business. DEDICATION 3 MEMORIUM Immortality Do not stand at my grave and weep . . . I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awoke in the morning hush, I am the swift unflinging rush. Of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the soft star-shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry . . . I am not there. I did not die. Working in conjunction with other clubs we've been involved in many cultural activities and have helped several deserving organizations. CSA 22 BUDDING SCIENTISTS? 23 .M After several delays, the yearbook staff took on the longest project of the year. Murphy's law certainly applied to us!! However, with the guidance of two advisors and the advice of several others, we finally got the ball rolling. We'd like to apologize now for all our errors but we feel with the limited staff and insurmountable problems, we did the best we could with what we had. Unfortunately like many other activities at Clinton, apathy was our greatest problem. Perhaps with a larger staff next year, the yearbook will be a greater success than this one. We'd like to thank all the students, faculty, and admin for their cooperation and extra help. 1983-1984 Praecursor Staff Editor Layouts Typing Advertising Photography Advisors W. McCray T. Cross L. This year the festivity was held at Classics IV with steamship round as the free meal and free champagne for all!! CCC WELCOME BACK PARTY WINE AND CHEESE PARTY This year, the SLC sponsored a Winter Carni- val. This included three days of activities and events for the students. Some of the events are shown on the next four pages. Shown here is the Kitchen Band which entertained us with music. We also had a “Hat Day where prizes were awarded to the best Faculty (Mrs. O'Leary) and best student (Tina Williams). A craft and hobby show was held featuring many beautiful articles. The students were treated to dog sled rides and another free stu- dent luncheon. To top the three days off, the movie “Fame was shown Friday night. The events were for the most part well attended. WINTER 60 61 INDOOR PICNIC DOG SLED BIDES THE LIGHTS ON LAKE CHAMPLAIN On a newborn day when breezes sway And sing a soft refrain. They sing of beauty, peace and joy And the lights on Lake Champlain. When the breeze is light and sun is bright Before the day is done. Then diamonds dance and leap and prance And sparkle in the sun. When the sun is setting in the west There's beauty yet untold. It paints the clouds from rosy red To pink and shining gold. And all the colors on the clouds Reflected in the bay. Is like a flaming sea of fire To end a perfect day. Hhen the moon is full and not too high There's mystery to behold. Moonbeams across the water dark In paths of red and gold. Then when it's dark the city lights Reflect across the bay. In paths of light where fairies dance And frolic on their way. Paths of red and green and blue Each one a brilliant wand, Fainted there across the deep From a sparkling fairyland. The best of beauty in the land That nature can contain. Is there with flashing glowing might In the lights on Lake Champlain. Dewey Knapp Dr. Alfred B.
