Text from Pages 1 - 98 of the 1982 volume:

THE LIGHT OVER YOUR MIRROR WAS PERFECTED BY A DEAF MAN. WHILE YOUR MORNING RADIO PLAYS, REMEMBER THE HUNCHBACK WHO HELPED INVENT IT IF YOU LISTEN TO CONTEMPORARY MUSIC, YOU MAY HEAR AN ARTIST WHO IS BLIND. IF YOU PREFER CLASSICAL, YOU MAY ENJOY A SYMPHONY WRITTEN BY A COMPOSER WHO COULDN’T HEAR. THE PRESIDENT WHO SET AN UNBEATABLE AMERICAN POLITICAL RECORD COULD HARDLY WALK. A WOMAN UNABLE TO SEE, SPEAK, OR HEAR, STANDS AS A GREAT ACHIEVER IN AMERICAN HISTORY. Because 1981 was the Year of the Handicapped, the yearbook staff dedicates the 1982 PRAECURSOR to all the people who have worked a little harder to make their special contribution to Clinton Community College. 2 | STUDENT ACTIVITIES 4 5 Spring Graduatior 6 Freshman Capping Ceremony 7 Student Awards Banquet 8 Spring Picnic ’81 9 Fall Welcome Back Picnic 10 11 Cruising On the Juniper 12 14 15 Unlike all other life on earth which is driven by necessity, we are the creatures who have learned how to choose what roles we shall play in the course of our existence. In the midst of the complicated dances we have learned to perform, may we turn within to listen to the voice of our deepest self which has its own song to sing and its own dance to do. May we be concerned with what is real within us, rather than with what others may perceive we are or want us to be. In a world which would make us in its image, may we be ourselves. Robert E. I know which roads have been the best I know which ones were rotten. I smiled and laughed a time or two I even threw a fit. I learned to cry and feel the pain But never did I quit. I perservered through every storm I left no task undone. I fought my way from here to there and never chose to run. I challenged those who challenged me. I gave it all I had. I did the best that I could do. Some people thought me mad. So up to now, I’ve done my thing. I know from where I’ve been, and if I had the chance once more I’d do it, all over again. Plymale Moonrise, with your cameo light, Moonrise, does she view the same tonight? Your beams disperse on the window’s frost, tonight you light a world that is lost. Moonrise, you travel ’cross the sky Moonrise, in you I can see her eyes. I see you full and lofty this eve, Such qualities as with our love are hard to conceive. Moonrise, you keep me from my sleep Moonrise, your beams as lasers cut my heart deep. I think of her often and long for the day when we will always together stay. Moonrise, can she see your glow? Moonrise, we love as no one will ever know. I now see the hue of colors for today you become orange as you shrink away. Moonrise, why do you leave? Moonrise, we will stay together, this I believe. The wings of the crow now start to hum the leaves of today now shine of Autumn. Moonrise, I see you in her eyes, Moonrise, such a beautiful compromise. Now in my heart forever in a day, Yes, I know that she will stay. Special thanks to those who helped put this yearbook together, especially my coeditor, Jane Masey; photographers Andy LaDuke and Bernie Phaneuf; artwork Connie Solano; layouts Doug Dreissigacker, Tami Collins, Melody Waters, Cliff Jones, Jeff Pageau, George Rock, and others.
