The setting of the play takes place at Musgrave Manor. The old Lord Mus- grave has died under suspicious cir- cumstances. His heir, Reginald (Todd Fields), and daughter, Jessica (Tonia Mennen), are left to solve the mystery. Reginald invites an old friend from college, Sherlock Holmes (John Rog- ers), and his companion. Dr. Watson (Neal Stock), to help unravel the mys- tery. The production was presented No- vember 9th and 10th and performed to a nearly packed house. is F.F.A. is Breaking New Ground F.F.A. named first in state The Future Farmers of America Chapter was very active and successful during the 1984-85 year. At the state convention in June, the chapter was named number one in the state of Indiana out of more than two hundred chapters. Throughout the year, the members were involved in holding the chapter's second annual hog show, attending leadership camp, selling citrus fruit and sausage. It went Christmas carolling at a local nursing home and held an Easter Egg hunt for the first grade. Outstanding members were rewarded with an achievement trip to Opryland. The livestock judging team won the state contest and competed in the National F.F.A. Convention in Kansas City. A second state victory was claimed when the meats judging team won in De- cember. In celebration of National F.F.A. Week, the chapter hosted a farmers breakfast and served cherry pie to the faculty. After much preparation, members competed in March for differ- ent areas of leadership contests, including: demonstrations, pub- lic speaking, talent, quiz bowl, and parliamentary procedure. During the year, members also spent time practicing for competi- tion in soil, crop, dairy, dairy foods, livestock, meats, forestry, ag mechanics, welding, and farm business management. 46 F.F.A. Football The Clinton Central High School football team, under the direction of Coach John Holden, completed a successful campaign in showing its best season in a decade. After starting the season with a disappointing loss to Carroll, the Bulldogs posted their first win over Turkey Run, but slumped to lose five in a row including a heartbreaking loss to county rival Frankfort. The Greenclads then reeled off three straight wins including the finale over rival and conference foe Clinton Prairie. Coach Holden said, The future of Clinton Central football looks promising since fourteen starters are returning and anxiously awaiting next season. Seniors Bryan Crenshaw and Brian Laughner join junior Ron Royer on the All-Conference and All-County teams, while senior Jeff Malott was selected on the All-County team. 68 Corne back here! Back, L to R: Head Coach Barnett, Manager DeAnne Brock, Asst. Coach Christian. The girls varsity volleyball team had an outstanding season, finishing with a 21-3 season record. All three losses came at the hands of the eventual state champ, Clin- ton Prairie. Coach Linda Barnett will have to fill the shoes of four seniors next year including three time All Conference, hon- orable mention All State Academic, All County, and All Lafayette area Ellen Mc- Donald. Kim Jarrett, Lori Kingery, and Stacey Sanders were chosen to the Aca- demic All State team and will depart with graduation. The school is very proud of the accom- plishments of these young ladies. 70 Harriers continue winning ways The 1984 cross country team continued its precedent of performing well as it racked up a dual meet record of 10-1. The Bulldogs broke Clinton Prairie’s two year undefeated string while the only loss came at the hands of Western Boone in a close match. Outstanding team wins were the County- Championship, a repeat crown at the Carroll Invitational, and qualifying for Sectional and Regional for the fifth year in a row. Perhaps the biggest disappointment was a fourth place finish in the Conference, the lowest in five years. The girls had only four runners, therefore were unable to score as a team. Coach Janet Norris- Hewitt had this to say about the season. With eleven of the eighteen girls being first time swimmers, this could be consid- ered a rebuilding year. The Bulldogs were led by Kim Humburg, the high point award winner, in most meets throughout the season. Julie Hussey won the mental attitude award and Lynn Scamahorn re- ceived the most improved award. Darryl Stock was the only winner in the conference while Davison. Steve McKinney in the long jump, Mark Hawn in the highs, Shawn Green in the discus, in addition to Stock were County champs. 88 Baseball Team Posts Best Overall Mark Central s diamond crew compiled a 15-6 record enroute to a record setting season. Lori Lee Kingery, Editor This is the beginning of a new day. God had given me this day to use as 1 will. I can waste it — or use it for good, but what I do today is important, because 1 am ex- changing a day of my life for it! When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving in its place something that I have traded for it. I want it to be gain, not loss; good, and not evil; success, and not failure; in order that I shall not regret the price I have paid for it. Author Unknown
