This is your 196 EX LIBRI It has been in our hands many months. It started with many ideas, and confusion. Now it is in your hands. We planned a theme around which we could build our book. We chose 'tOpen Doors. Once these school grounds were open fields and barren places. Now there are many open doors. Through these doors come the students to Clinton Central High. Here is a new school with new opportunities and new challenges. Those who pass through these doors leave with a greater knowledge. FRCDM CPE FIELDS PRCDGRESS IN EDUCATIC Early in the spring of 1956, the Clinton County Board of Education, composed of the fourteen township trustees, engaged Indiana University Department of Education to make a county survcy of the school systems and make recommendations for their improve- ment. This survey was completed in December, 1956, and the results were published in book form and re- leased early in 1957. The Indiana University Depart- ment of Education recommended that Clinton County be divided into three school districts, that a new build- ing be constructed in each district for classes 7 through 12, and that the present school buildings be used for classes 1 through 6. As a result of these recommendations, George Black- burn, Ralph Butler, Sam Davis, and Edwin Record, trustees of Warren, Johnson, Forest, and Michigan townships respectively, met at the home of Ralph Butler to discuss plans and procedure for consolidating the schools of their townships into one unit. Before much progress was made, Roy Walker, trustee of Sugar Creek township, requested that his township be permitted to join with the other four. Henry Morrison, attorney, was engaged to handle the legal proceedings and Clinton Central School Corporation was formed, consist- ing of Warren, Johnson, Forest, Michigan, and Sugar Creek townships with the following school Board of Education: George Blackburn, President, Sam Davis, Secretary, Ralph Butler, Treasurer, Roy Walker and Edwin Record, members. Very soon after Clinton Central Consolidation was effected, a number of school patrons of Kirklin Town- ship became interested in joining the consolidation. Robert McKinney, trustee of Kirklin township requested that his township be permitted to join the Clinton Central School Corporation. After the necessary legal proceedings, the present Clinton Central School Corp- oration became effective July 29, 1957.
