1: ' ' 'him-dt-C I The idea of an area college had never been far from the minds of many Southwest Virginians. It was Fred B. Greear and Kenneth Asbury who made the first trip to Charlottesville to sell the University of Virginia on the idea of establishing the college. It is certain that any picture of Clinch Valley College in its earliest days must carry in its foreground the image of Colgate W.
