STYLE SHOW FOR 1956 Each year as is the custom, the girls in Home Economics style the clothes they have made during the year This year, the virls presented an operetta called 'The Nifty Shop', on the afternoon of May 8 1956 from 2 OO to L O0 The story takes place in a very exclusive shop for women The characters are Madame Lazare, the proprietor of the shop, played by Lynette Harker, Mrs Goldore, looking for fashions of the latest gowns by Beverly Kirkpatrick, her daughters, Bess and Jackie are portraved by LaDonna Lee and Gloria Cassens Olpa, a chore vlrl at the shop Willis Meents Rosemary and Janet,two French Sophomore Home Ec Girls maids, Irene Haddock and Judy Parker the rest were in the Chorus of Models After the modeling, coffee and small snacks were served The center piece on the table was desivned to represent a small garden, with a white picket fence surrounding an assortment of flowers BOARD-FACULTY BANQUET On February 7 1956, the school held its Annual Board Faculty Banquet Again the Freshmen and sophomore Home Economics classes, with the able assistance of Mrs Vestal did the planning, preparing and serving Since it was so near Valentines Day,the decorations were based onthis theme very beautifully arranged were red and white tapers and bouquets of red oar nations and white chrysanthemums The nut cups were square with metalic red heart lids fashioned with clear cellophane and golden arrows Red and white hearts of various sizes were scattered over the table top The menu consisted of Tomatoe Juice Ritz Crackers Ham Qu Mashed Potatoes Gravy String Beans Hvt R0llS Relish Trey Cherry Jello Salad Coffee Vanillia Ice Cream strawberries Brownies SCHOOL BOARD These men gave freely of their time to directthe education of our school and community Don Wulf,Secretary, I V Kuhn, Pres ident, Arthur Kohlhof Charles Suls burger, Alfred Corn1lls,Howerd Smith Mr C N Vestal, Superintendent Lnot pictured, Dwain Loyd, Treasurer D 9 s., . Shirley, Margaret, Earl, Warren N99 W NOMINATION P R By popular vote Earl Had M dock and Margaret Cassens Wx were the Seniors chosen to be Mr and Miss C Hill Shirley Plummer and Warren Conner were the runner up candidates Earl and Mar paret's names were told at the Activity Banquet l Bev, LI' Ronfeldt, Nick 6 Mr Nick and M HONPRING NR AND MISS C FILL A roller skating party was held at the Onawa Roller Rink, Narch 27, 1956 This was a masquerade party, sponsored by the Seniors, in honor of Mr and Miss C Hill Beverly Kirkpatrick as Buns Bunny won the first prize for the girls and Nick Kohlhor as Fred die the Freeloader, won the first prize for the boys Mr Vestal was a pirate and Mr Ronfeldt looked like the devil Nick Fotlhof and Norma Lohse wrn the prize as best skaters of the evening g- A - . l f. f Bev an ' 'v - -1 V.

HOT LUNCH The hot lunch program is sponsored by the Board of Education The cooks, Lottie Chris tensen, Anna Christensen and Irene Hagan, under Mr Vestal's direct1on,have planned and prepared approximately 200 meals each school day Erna Green is substitute cook For 26 besides the regular cost of their meal, each student has the advantage of an extra half pint of mllk Some of the lower grades drink their e tra mllk during the at ternoor The regular lunch prices are as follows giggzhpgrggg hgghdsghggi go Miss Anna Chr1stensen,Mrs Lot Bagan The expenses come to approximately Ql,3OO 00 per month and the income is slightly more We all appreciate the variety in the menu of the nourishing meals put out by our cooks, 'THANKQ COOKS H P T A The P T A had a busy and successful year They served a County Extension luncheon in October and a Soil Conservation dinner in December In January they served a luncheon for the Western Telephone Association, and in March, the P T A served at the annual Activity Banquet The association sponsored Red Cross swimming lessons for children of school aee They also sponsored a page in the school annual Membership of the association was 58 President Mrs Carl Gordon Health and Safety Chairman Mrs Elmer Vice President Mrs Vincent Parker Groth Treasurer Mrs Dwight Davis Publicity Chairman Mrs Rex Sulsburger Secretary Mrs larvin White Magazine Chairman Mrs Gail Christensen Program Chairman Mrs Dwain Loyd Membership Chairman Mrs Howard Smith Hostess Mrs Homer Hagan Here are those men who have taken the responsibility of getting ue to school and back home every day this past year.
