Q 55:4 School Board Members The annual School Board- Facult Ban uet was held Y Q on November lO. The din- ner was prepared by the Home Ee. girls under the direction of Mrs. Vestal, their instructor. A fall theme was carried out in the decorations made by the girls. The center piece was a basket of lavender and yellow mums. On August 14, the oommunit pleasant- Y ly surprised Mr. and Mrs. Vestal, and helped them celebrate their 25 wedding anniver- sary. Over 200 were present gp-new , kk z me K 'if' School Board Members and Their Wives The Home Ec. classes held their annual style show and Mothers Tea,on Friday, April 29. About 75 guests were present. The 15 girls had made numerous articles of wearing apparel the past year and displayed them. The tea table gave a festive spring air with a centerpiece of violets and pink tapers. On January 24, the band members went z -1-' if C. I-Iill Zepher The school newspaper was issued every six weeks. The typing was done by the Senior typing class under Mr. Reynold's supervision. Under new management, the name was changed to the Climbing Hill Zephyr. Almost every member of the staff had their turn at writing an editorial. We are proud to say that most of us became accomplished stencil typists before the year was over. On September 1, we started our annual Curtis Magazine Sales.Marilyn Christ- ensen and Norma Lohse were the cap- tains of the two teams,Margaret Cass- en was the general manager. Norma's team composed of the 7th,9th and llth grades, won the race. We sold 3598.50 of magazines,of which 3114.17 was our share. Marcia Loyd, a 7th grader,was high salesman. On October 20, we had our first pro- gram from the University of Kansas. It was the Punchenello Puppet Show. During the year we also had a music- ical program by Pat and Sally, and a play entitled 'Sweethearts.' Every student who wished to attend was charged a small fee. to Morningside to participate in the annual band festival. We were very proud to wear our band uniforms for the first time at a band festival. On February 21, the voice festival was held also in Morningside at Allee Gymnasium. The Activity Banquet was held Tuesday April 5. The band played, and special numbers were given before the banquet The address was given by Wayne Cooley from Des Moines. He is the Executive Secretary of the Girls Athletic Union Following the address speeches were given by students on the various act- ivities that we had during the year.
