STUDENT COUNCIL The purpose of the Student Council is to give the students a voice in school activities and government. Each class has two representatives, besides their class president, who attend the meetings. The officers elected this year were: president, Doris Fenwick: vice- president, Merle Hitchings: secretary, Shirley Hayward: treasurer, Marilyn Van Middlesworth. A new student government was set up at the beginning of the second semester This was undertaken under the leadership of the Council, the advice of Mr. Hine, and the co-operation of the students and teachers. This, plan of school government is really a democracy on a small scale, and it is successful. The most important activities of the Council this year were the planning of the Carnival, helping the Community Club make it's Valentine Dance a success and starting the student government.
