I 'F WALLV WATCHES HARRIS FIX THE MACHINE FOR OUR WEEKLY MOVIES TOP: SENIOR ASSEMBLY. BOTTOM: JUNIOR HIGH ASSEMBLY By the time you read this page, you have seen the l945 VIKING in its brand-new dress, I hope you like all of the many changes that we have effected. This is, by the way, the first Climax yearbook since l942. We have worked on the assumption that you would rather look at pictures than read articles, and we have unblushingly used ideas from the collection of school annuals we keep in the lower right-hand drawer of our big desk. Our thanks to Charles Bun Odden of Holt's for his patient advice and instruction, to Irving Bank of Samuel's Studio for most of our photography, to J. P. Normann of Crookston for the shots of the basketball games, to Cooper's, Scherling's, Aalgaard's, Voss, and Samuel's Studios for the Junior and Senior pictures, to Mr. Harry lmai of the Dacotah Photo-Engraving Company for our cover design, to Arthur Vraa for letting us use his copy of the l944 graduation picture, and to all those who brought us pictures. Bouquets to capable Margaret Hanson, associate editor, to Hawley Eia and Lawrence Aker for their work on the Servicemen List, to sports writer Harlow Thompson, to Kathleen Biorge, Betty Renslen, Lois Estenson, and Jean Wegge for their untiring efforts, night after night, to all the rest of the staff, and to the whole Senior Class. Much thanks also to Miss Richards and Mr. Olsen for letting us use our own ideas, odd as they seemed. Before you shut the book, turn back to page 47 and read the list of our patrons, These are the men who are always willing to reach down into their own pockets to cover the deficit for any number of activities at the high school. We have all worked hard since last October-during study periods, classes ldon't telll and any time we could find between basketball games-so we are happy to be finished. It has been a lot of fun, though, hasn't it? Remember how we nearly knocked you over the head to make you buy a copy? Remember how we got out of classes when the photographer came? And do you recall how mean we were not to let you see the pictures? Well, it's all over, now, and I am all set to pull down the top of the desk and shut up our big, sunny office. So long. Tomorrow I join the Navy. -- Oliver Olson. .48. i r 'u
