She has spent much of her time helping students com- pil'e information for themes, finding news reports and recommending worthwhile books to those Who ask her help. During the last two years, she has further endeared herself to us .by serving as our class sponsor. We are gr at eful for her advice, her genuine interest in our class, and most of all, putting up With our 1' owdy group. Each member has given something of himself to aid the success of his club. This year the clubs, their presidents, and their sponsors have worked particularly hard to make this an outstanding year. In our opinion, they have succeeded. 31 FIRST ROW: Mrs. Elsie B1air,Sponsor; Johnny Turner, Vice- President; Gayle :5 l l. 1 Neal, President; Janice Anderson, Sec.-Treas.; Kent Parsons, Reporter. Mrs. Elsie Blair, The Climax S.C.A. has filled its final year with many interesting and worthwhile projects. Among these were such annual projects -as Miss Climax, elected by popular vote of the stu- dent bo dyt, selling ice cream at lunchtime, and the semi-formal Christmas party. The S.C.A. chose two main objectives to be carried out during the year. One was to give a $25. scholarship to the most deserving boy and girl in the senior class. The entries were judg- edton the basis of both class and club work. The other was to meet with Student Councils in our area to plan for the effects of next year's con- solidation. The S.C.A. also provided a Christmas card mailbox for the benefit of the students and tea- chers, and did a good j 0b of keeping our hall bulletin board covered. We conclude this, our final year of work, withthe hope that we have, in some way, served our school and its faculty as they have served us, and that we have helped prepare our fellow students for the challenge oftomorrow. 32 S.C.A. After being crowned, Virginia and her escort, E. J. David, dem- onstrate the art of dancing. The programs and projects through whichthese qualities are exerted by the members can be found in the Beta objectives for 1963-64. These objectiveswere: to sponsor the White Christmas program, to publish the school paper, to sponsor a school Talent Contest, to sponsor an act in the Talent Contest at the Beta Convention, and to sponsor a Donkey Basketball Game. With the help of our sponsor, Mrs. Berger, the Beta Club's last year has been a most re- warding and successful one. Gladys Bowen, Ramona Walker, Faye Quarles, Gloria Anderson, Sandra Munson, and Willie Watson are shown getting one of the many interesting editions ready. The Beta Club sponsored a Donkey Bas- ketball Game in November. Although there were not many scores made, the audience seemed to enjoy the game. This donkey just does not seem to want to go where his rider wants to. The game turned out to be test of will between man and beast. One of our projects was to sponsor the White Christmas , Program. We sent seven boxes to needy families. President Obie James Minter presented Mrs. Berger with a Christmas present from the Beta Club. We did wash the tops of the cars, picture Miss Haley is proving it. and in this Edward Cook, our pho- tographer, was afraid people would think he never came to school since he was usually behind the camera in- stead of in front of it. This car got a good cleaning, but we all got tired before the day was over. Our Car Wash was a big job, and we are not anxious to try another one. Several of our mem- bers were not present when the large picture of the Annual Staff was made. Johnny Blair was one who took some pictures and sold ads. Our main project was the teenage consumer. We learned to take care of, and use wisely the clothing purchased, and the meaning of labels and how to read them. We also learned to evaluate advertisements . We plan to honor our fathers this year with a covered dish supper.
