After having lost the three starting forwards of last year's team, it was thought that this would have to be a rebuilding year for the girls. However, the prospects of having a good season looked considerably better with each daily practice. At the beginning of the season the girls did not fare too well, but as they gained experience their playing im- proved steadily. After the Christmas holi- days the girls won their first three confer- ence games, proving that they would be in there fighting until the last game had been played. Norma Toney, one of our freshman forwards, was near the top of the girls' scoring race in the county with less than half the season re- maining.
