ti) eijgp uii wm... As we enter the 80's,ive enter an age of great new challenges. Entering also into a time when the decisions we make must be reached with time and care. We are entering a decade where our lives are destined for change. Some of us may know the direction in which we're heading while others may not. Only fate can tell what the future holds for us as we take a step into time. UflGlLE UX? Mr. Ouzts was born in Thomasville, Georgia, attended Harding University, was in the Navy and taught in Arkansas and Missouri before coming to Clifton High School. He’s been Student Council sponsor for over ten years and also sponsors Honor Society and Med-Start. Mr. Ouzts enjoys working at CHS very much and we’re quite glad to have had him working with us. CHS Student Council Plays Big Part In Student Activities. Student Council played a big part this past year in many of the high school activities and student affairs. Council runs a student book store where school supplies and candy can be bought. They also maintain vending machines in the hall. Spirit Week, Theme Days, and National Assemblies are a few of the projects that Council sponsored this year. 19 All in all Student Council proved to be very successful for the 1979-80 school year. Yearbook! v' Marcos Esparza and Veronica Tellez stare at the camera while Libby Saucedo and Cindy Hernandez work on their layouts. The Yearbook class this year was a new experiment. In past years, the yearbook had been put out by students who sacrificed their time after school in order to produce a good annual. Since it became a class this year, the yearbook staff has had an easier time of it, being that now we have at least an hour every day to work on it. It was a lot of fun this year having an organized yearbook staff. Members of the Yearbook staff work on meeting their deadlines. 21 Music Classes Back Row L to R: M. Perez, M. Frasquillo, L. With the loss of all six starters from the State Runners-up team of ’78 this was definitely a rebuilding year. The Trojans started with three complete teams, a Freshman, J.V., and Varsity team, but ended the season with two. The Trojans had a tough season but there were some bright spots. Clifton was the only Class B east team to defeat the tough Thatcher Eagles, eventual state runners-up to Florence. They also whipped Duncan twice during the season, and Duncan went to state. The Trojans were led by the all around play of Diana Saenz and Monica Cabral, the team’s only seniors, while Elaine Montez, Jody Montoya, Debbie Manuz, Ronda Sorells, and Jolene Provencio showed promise for the future.
