SENICR CLASS HISTORY Nineteen hundred forty-one was one of the milestones for the Senior Class of 54. Our first school day, the new friends we met, the plays we gave for our parents, and those cold winter days when we used to sit by the radiators for warmth-these pictures will be remem- bered always. In September, 1949, Chase Creek and South Clifton eighth grades united to form one 8th grade which consisted of 72 members. Our officers for the year were as follows: president, Pete Reyesg vice-president, Frank Bailong secretary, Jerry Romischg treasurer, Rebecca Rivas. Our sponsors were Don McA1pine and Isabel Schmiedendorf. With our long awaited gradua- tion day from elementary school on May 24, 1950, we began to make plans for our years at C.H.S. The so-called Fresh , will never forget the thrilling initiation day. During our freshman year we gave the Freshman Return Dance. Our officers for that year were: president, Billy Overallg vice-president, Conrado Lujang secretary, Rebecca Rivasg treasurer, Frank Bailon. Our sponsors were Victor Meneley and Don McAlpine. In the year to come, we, the Mighty Sophomores , had our fun initiating the freshmen. That year we gave a dance and a pep assembly. Our officers for that year were: president, Frank Bailong vice-president, Paul Villag secretary, Rebecca Rivasg treasurer, Inez Rivas. Stu- dent Council representatives were Frances Zappia and Jimmy Hardcastle. Our sponsors were Carol Lauer and Don McAlpine. Our junior year was an eventful one. Some of us were in the junior and senior play. We also gave the seniors a Mardi Gras prom and attended the banquet given by the class of '53, One of our happiest moments of our third year was receiving our class rings. In order to raise money that year we were allowed to sell at the football game. Our officers for that year were as follows: president, Frank Gabusi, Jr., vice-president, Kenneth Barneyg secretary, Rebecca Rivasg treasurer, Inez Rivasg student council representatives, Raul Lopez and Billy Overall. Our sponsors were Carol Lauer and Don McAlpine. On August 31, 1953, forty-five gleaming faces were seen coming up the walk to resume their last year at C.H.S. Our memories will always go back to Senior Day at the University and Ditch Day . We attended the Junior and Senior Prom and gave the juniors a banquet. Some of us were in the junior-senior play, Here Comes Charlie . We'1l always remember the first thrill of being called one of those SENIORS and the feel- ing of dignity accompanying the caps and gowns. A million thanks go to our two faithful sponsors, Carol Lauer and Don McAlpine, who have guided and helped us through our four eventful years at Clifton High School. Thus, on graduation day, the final year for the Class of 54 comes to an end with smiles and tears for the friends and memories left behind, but also with hope and enthusiasm for the new adventures ahead. 27
