“
We had thought of saying “thank you” to him but it just didn’t f seem enough for all that he has done. Like those before him, ' he seems worthy of much more than anything words can con- vey, written or spoken. This man has been active in the community and the school. He started teaching in 1955 and was one of the founders of the wrestling program. He helped with the program from 1973 to present and he is well-respected for all he has done. He has also been active in the community as Grand Knight and Parish Council member in the Knights of Columbus. He has been a member of the Star Lake Fire Department and is currently Fire Chief. For his genuine interest in his students, colleagues, and com- munity, we, the staff of the 1977 Mountain Echo, dedicate our efforts to Mr. Paul Garbreana: a man we all know and i respect. faculty and Staff . . . My deepest gratitude to the staff this year. They were small in number, but ex- tremely dedicated to the book-Mr. Ritchings 107 Kemember. . . . Students come and go. They arrive in Kindergarten (or lat- er) and leave us twelve years later (or sooner). We very often neglect the fact that staff members also move through the school system; perhaps in a different way, but none-the-less, there is movement. We would like to devote these two pages to a number of staff members who have, this year, left our system. We in- vite you to take a moment right now to reflect upon your personal associations with these people as YOU moved through the school system. Three members of our staff retired this year, all after a long-time association with Clifton-Fine Central School: Mrs. Carolyn Mead, Women’s Physical Education Instruc- tor; Mr. Joseph (Babe) Golden, Head Custodian; and Mr. George MacDonald, Instructor of Driver Education. Mr. Richard VanGelder and Mr. James King passed away this last year, and those of us who knew them will miss them both very much. Others leave Clifton-Fine to take other positions and in- variably, all are replaced and soon, forgotten by most. It is easy for those of us who have been here but a few years to overlook the deeds of those who were here before WE arrived. We mustn’t allow this to happen, for someday, WE will have been here a long time and WE wouldn’t want to be forgotten by those who have contributed less than us! Please take a moment to reflect upon your happy memories of those who have left our school, whatever the reason why. 108 ADVERTISING Best Wishes to all Our local Patrons for a prosperous Season! We now come to one of the most important sections of our yearbook: The Advertising Section. Our local patrons contribute nearly one-fourth of the revenues needed to print our book. Without them we would have no book and it’s time once again for us all to thank these local businesses for their continued sup- port by encouraging all our readers to to business locally whenever you can, and particularly, patronize those businesses listed in this section. Thank you all very much for your support. The lateness of the yearbook this year, moreso than in past years, is due to a rather common malady among high school extra- curricular activities: APATHILOPRIORITUS (really) It is a disease that spreads quickly and whose results are devastating to yearbook deadlines. It forces those who are immune, to work all the harder to make up for those suffering; thus, we all suffer. It not only affects those who work on the book; it also affects those who don’t even purchase a book, thus making the cost more expensive for those who do. Help STAMP OUT this dreaded disease in our school and enjoy a rewarding experience at the same time! Become a part of the over- 20-year-uninterupted series of MOUNTAIN ECHOS.Join the staff this fall and PLEASE buy a book (or two).
