Dear Mr. Marshall For many years you were around these ivy halls of ours, lending aid to poor, friendless, or under-privi- leged students. It made no difference to you if their name happened to be Rockefeller, Ford, or Brown. You always turned an interested ear, or gave out some fatherly advice. It seems that you could issue an ultimatum and it was followed to the Nth degree, quickly and graciously! We miss you now because you have spent so many days and hours with us — from the time of the little white schoolhouse to the era of our big sophisticated one. May your days of retirement be happy and satisfying, as you look about the community and see many leaders, who were molded by your influence. Even today we are sure they look up with the same degree of respect that they had thirty years ago. You have been a good and kind teacher, and all of us who have been privileged to associate with you, whisper a very sad “Farewell.” Students and Faculty
