Principal’s Message On behalf of the Board of Education and the members of our faculty, I wish to con- gratulate the members of the Senior Class of 1963. I would like to commend Mr. Stangle, the new advisor of our Mountain Echo , and his staff for a job well done. It is certainly gratifying to note that each year, as our graduating classes become larger, an even higher percentage of our graduates are going on to further education. It is extremely important that students — as well as parents — become convinced that school grades mean a whole lot, whether you are going to college, or looking for a job. Nowadays, employers can be choosey about whom they hire and they don't have to take someone who just skimmed by in high school. All employers checks your high school record today before hiring. Another thing, colleges do set grade standards which their applicants must meet. Quite often, the college requires that the applicant be in the upper third of his high school graduat- ing class — or have at least an 85 per cent average. It is wise to find out what the re- quirements are of the school of your choice, and-then strive toward meeting them. In this day when college costs are so high, the students who make better grades in high school have the better chances to compete for scholarships to help them along. I would urge all of you to work hard to attain the goal you have set for yourself, and earnestly hope you achieve this goal and happiness in the future.
