We students, on the yearbook staff, were quite thrilled at the thought of putting out the Central School's first yearbook. We were promised plenty of hard work at the beginning of the year, and as it turned out, that is just what was given to us. Though it was fun putting all of this work into the yearbook we sighed hap- pily when it was finally completed. We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Miss Allen, our yearbook advisor. She worked harder than any one of us and without her help, this book would have been impossible. We also greatly appreciate the work of Mrs. Parrish, our English instructor, and of Mr. Latini, our Art instructor, who both helped us a great deal. We certainly thank them for all their time and effort. We would like to take this opportunity now to wish the best of luck to the yearbook staff of 1954, and we sincerely hope that they will enjoy their work as much as we have enjoyed ours. Though the road may be rough And the hills may be steep, We'll go our way with courage We'll do the best we can, For you see, we're proud to have A yearbook on hand. DEDICATION SITTING: L-R. P. A. Miranda(Sup. Prin.), M. O. Peterson (clerk). Dr. Robert V. Persson (Pres.), It is with sincere appreciation that we dedicate this, our first yearbook, to our school board and school officials. We feel that without their help we would never have this new school building of which we are so justly proud. Since they have done so much for us, we wish, by this small token, to express our heartfelt thanks to them j y Faculty FRONT ROW: Left to Right-Mrs. Van Gelder-Kd., Mis. Johnson-Home Ec. Our Student Council consists of eighteen students chosen from grades seven through twelve. Be- cause of lack of time the council was not too active during the first part of the year but they hope to remedy this the latter half by meeting at a definite time each week. When they thus become better organized, the council will constitute rules and regulations which the student body will follow through. They will also act as a jury when a student breaks a law, deciding what the punishment will be. We have great faith in their ability to do a good job and our best wishes go out to them. The Future Home Makers of America is a comparatively new organization in this school. The F. H. A. deals with child care, cooking, sewing and baby sitting discussions. In order to belong to this organization you must have taken a course in homemaking. We wish the members of the F,H. A. much success in their fu- ture projects, and to the Old Home Week which will be held at Cornell Univer- sity. industrial arts The Industrial Arts program is the fulfillment of four primary ob- jectives. These are, a vocational interest, consumer education, skill and exploration. The boys taking shop have completed many projects, some of them making end tables, modem chests of drawers, and sewing trays. Metal spinning is a project which has created much enthusiasm among the boys. They have shown talent in the field also, by turning out some beautiful trays and plates. cuj HEALTH ROOM s. The members stay at the desk, stamp books for bor- rowers, slip books, do some shelving, and some card catalogue filing. They also file book jackets, prepare new books for the shelves, and put covers on magazines. In return for these services the members of the club learn about the care and value of books and receive a remembrance at the end of the year which is a pin shaped like a gold book.
