FOOTBALL After many long hard tries, the Cliffside Park Football Team has achieved its dream of winning the Bergen County Scholastic League championship. Only three years in the B.C.S.L. and the Red Raiders, under Head Coach Alan Bucky Kempton and Assistant Coaches Frank Temme and Fred Eschweiler, have not only tied last year's record, but have CP broken seven out of ten new records including most shutouts and most touchdowns. 27 Junior quarterback Jett Fratter and halfback seniors Lou Sottolano, Bob Sottolano, Mike 21 Sestanovich, and junior Bruce Elia led the backfield for the most touchdowns in one sea- 34 son, numbering 40. Bruce Elia became Bergen County's 4th top scorer and top B.C.S.L. scorer. Defensively, the whole team allowed only 36 points, the best in the county. 9 Coach Kempton received Best Coach of Bergen County from the Daily News and Gerry 53 Papa was named to the Bergen County All Star Team by the Daily News. Bob Minck 73 and Rich Vergona made First Team All-County, Jon Millen, Second Team All-County, 44 Steve Cinque, Lou Sottolano, and Joe Favorito received Honorable Mention All-County. 32 Those named to All-B.C.S.L.: Gerry Papa, Joe Favorito, and Bruce Elia, First Team, offense, 50 Bob Mick, Jon Millen, Steve Cinque, Rich Vergona, Co-Captain, and Lou Sottolano, First Team, defense, Tim Kelly, Co-Captain, receiyed Honorable Mention. John Jazenback would have been one of the outstanding players of the team but broke his arm during practice and never played during the season.
