A very big and abrupt change took place in this year's Student Council, transforming itself into a new role of dignity and honor. The Council finally became what Mr. Schulkins, their tireless advisor, had always hoped it would become, a service organization. This means simply that not only did they set up the usual social activities like the dances, but they began actively involved in helping other groups in need fulfill their dreams. This yearbook could not have been enlarged or improved upon without the generous contribution made by the Student Council. The Council also helped the cheerleading squads earn money for one of their projects. Another group that received help was the Alternative House, a drug abuse center that used Student Council earned money to help young people get educated and counseled about themselves and drug use. Then there are the annual events sponsored by the Council: the Can Drive, food for people in need, and the Music Scholarship Fund that sends deserving students to music camp. So as you can see the CHS Student Council has come a long way from dances and bake sales to that of real community service. We at Smart are proud of our rep- resentatives who have found as much satisfaction in serving others as themselves. Clifford H. Smart' Sfudem' Council 1 l .
