Z CLASS HISTORY To all you gathered together here, in our honor, we find it only fitting and proper to recite to you the past history and the present status of this, the Senior Class of 1941. As freshmen we were composed of fourteen members, and it was said that we were the freshest Freshmen Class in the history of dear old C. H. S. We had something to live up to, and we did. That year we were on the receiv- ing end of every prank played and were accused of all the evil done. We laughed at our reputation for being bad, We knew it was our extreme vitali ty for which we have always been noted In our sophomore year we were re duced to ten members Also we assumed a more dignifled behavior We still led the school by our pep and zeal e were proud to have two of our members, Bill Davis and Sam Lang, on the foot ball team, and just as proud to have several sophomole girls on the first team in basketball Also that year three of our girls were elected maids for the May Day festival. The boys' counter attack to this bit of publicity was made by placing a sophomore boy, Dick Owen, on the annual staff as sports editor' Our Junior year started out with list of lorries much longer than the list of courses we were taking, We were till active in all line of activ ities, sports, program , detention hall and last, and sometimes least, studies . . And now came the time to erase the largest worry from our list, We were going to give the Seniors a banquet. We had a nautical theme and altogether a very gay affair. We ate, we sang, we laughedg we looked beautiful and we were merry. After the banquet there was the Junior-Senior dance: net re- sults were sore feet, torn clothing, sleepy eyes and a big cleaning job. After all this had been accomplish- ed, we felt ready, yes, my dear friends actually ready to be called Senlors of Clewlston High School Our most impor tant struggle thi year has been to maintain a certain amount of dignity Sam Lang was elected captain of the football team and Dlck Owen, editor of the Annual Queen Margaret and King Sam relgned on hay Day On our picnlc, as you probably saw by the papers, we took Miami by storm' Perhaps the most exciting event of the year was the banquet and dance the Junior gave us It was really a delightful event And so, dear friends, you find us tonight after we have passed our last examination, fought our last battle, anxiously awaiting our diplomas We ve mixed work and play, but our time is H , and we leave this, our history of t e Class of '41 Julia Ann Oglesby 'Y 1931! xv' if ,Q ' ' Q . 0 ' ., S 3 ' ' 5 ' ' L f ' ' 0 , 1 r Q , Z I : .
