There has appeared at Lutheran high a youthful character known as Pioneer Pete He rs a strrplmg of only nrne summers but hrs meager years belre hrs energies hrs determinatron and hrs accomplishments His short years of growth have been fraught with hard knocks and adversrtres even to the extent that at times he might have considered himself an orphan But he kept hrs farth rn hrs purpose There was burlt up wrthrn hrm a convrctron and farth that the purpose for whrch he existed was to set a course for the youth of hrs trme and for those to follow a course whrch would give drrectron for the lrfe rn trme and for the life rn eternrty There were those who were skeptrcal as to whether Pete would grow up It wasn t easy The road of rnsprred servrce rs never smooth but those who travel on rt do not expect rt to be F arth and purpose was the dret whrch nourrshed Pete It has done well by hrm for today he rs making preparations to go Horace Greely one better by going both West and East Thus Pete is leavrng hrs original base of operations Growth rs inevitable when motrvat ed by farth and a consuming desire to follow the mandate of God to Go and Teach Thrs has been Pete s purpose over the past nrne years Thus as Pioneer Pete symbolrzes Lutheran High School and rts purpose for exlstence we of the PIONEER staff hereby dedicate this edition to those purposes May they continue to be fulfilled under the benedictron of our Lord 2 . . .
