Fall Cabinet Involvement of the students. . . meant the individual action of partic- ipating in one's personal interests. Students giving their attention to the ecology movement or political issues of the day were just as active as those attending sports events and dances, commented Kathy Chambers, presi- dent of the 1970 fall Student Body Cabinet. To instigate involvement during the fall semester, events such as special mini courses, the Homecoming SECOND VICE PRESIDENT Tammy Ternahan and first Vice President .lim Kramer Dance, Zig Zag, open Student Forum meetings, speakers, and films were presented by the Cabinet. An assembly welcoming the freshmen, and the sponsoring of selected stu- dents at political or ecological con- ferences were new this year. With the establishment of a larger Safety Squad, the United Good Neighbors Drive collected 523735. The second annual Renaissance was accom- panied by language and speech events, a jazz session, a film festival, art exhibits and a hootenanny. TREASURER Gayle Sternberg and Assistant Treasurer Jessica Weiss Spring Cabinet A more relaxed atmosphere. . . for learning which is conducive to study, was the overall goal of spring Student Body President Tom Mc- Laughlin for his cabinet. The plans for accomplishing this included the adoption of a credit-no credit option for all classes, elimination of fresh- men study halls, a written school policy concerning assemblies, and a school policy statement regarding censorship of written school publica- tions. Student Forum meetings were held during school, rather than after, in an attempt to give more students the opportunity to voice their opin- ions on school matters such as pass- no pass grading and teacher-student relationships, as well as voicing in- dividual complaints. The Judicial Board, which dealt with student behavior and constitu- tional problems, was headed by Chairman Matt Chan and consisted of Libby Clark, Lisa Whitehead, Mike Hepburn, and Brian McLaughlin. Cindy BlackweIder's Social Activ- ities Board was made up of Charlotte Kasahara, Debbe Robertson, Barb Schiewe, and Jeanette Weiss who were in charge of planning the spring S.B. dance and all money raising ac- tivities. One of the goals of the spring Social Activities Board, with the as- sistance of Alan Locke, fund raising chairman, was to raise S500 for springfunctions.
