Among the list are: being able to reach the water fountain flat-rooted, making blood curdling screeches on the blackboard with their finger tips, chewing gum all day long without get- ting caught, and throwing slush balls in the spring. Mrs. B. Olson, second grade instructor, aided in extraordinary projects, especially making Valentines with trademarks. However,. one pupil had a problem, HOh no, I goofed! Learning about Korea and demonstrations in Karate were unusual experiences for most of the 38 students. NScrumptious,H was the word for Mrs. Perkins' Mulligan Stew nutrition project. It was so good that one student has made it 10 times C!D at home since. The students were able to buy candy and toys by earning mock-money squares for extra effort. With the popular and excellent leader- ship, this year's 4th grade will be well prepared for their next step in through school . llilll this year different and interesting Under the new title of Resource Center, many changes in the Special Ed. Depart- nent allowed the students to mix with their peer groups for more social contact in science, music and phy. ed. classes. Mrs. E. Block in turn helped those who needed additional aid in basic skill subjects. Cbelowj Mrs. Block at work. mg HThe main purpose of re- medial reading, Hstated Instructor Mrs. L. Quiram,H was to improve the reading of a child whose ability was below his or her expected level. This task began with Mrs. Quiram diagnosing each child's problem and scheduling their reading classes at times which didn't inter- fere with regular classes. After the initial planning and scheduling headaches were solved the fun began. Mrs. Quiram proved the capacity of her imagination by developing games like, HRead a Book, Build a Snow- mann and HRead a Book Base- ball.H The Remedial Reading Department has made the year easier for many.
