We reluctantly turn from the things at hand, Our fortunes we must seek. There are corners yet to turn, And miles to go before we sleep. The love from parents, teachers, and friends Has brought us to this day. We can nevervrepay for all they've done, But thank you, dear hearts, we'l1 say. The good and bad, the happy, the sad- Of these we were always a part, The memories acquired, the good times shwaredf- All will remain in our hearts. May God with His love enfold us, And guide oursteps each day-- Higher and always upward In His 'own heavenly way. Let us always lend a. helping hand To those who are in need, For if we sow seeds of kindness, Then kindness we shall reap. We must never stray' from what is right As we weave our patch of blue. We must be examples for- those behind- Ever faithful, ever true. Now as we turn and take lifels hand, Let us set our goals-fhigh. If we use our timewisely, and our talents the Then life will not pass us by. --julia Langdon same, Qllass 4 isiurg Remember when we were in the first grade? just think, there were seventy-seven of us then. And oh, that field trip in the sixth grade! You'd think we had never seen dirt before. That was the year jerry West came--how can we ever forget? You can imagine Mrs. Coats and Mr. Barbour had their hands full trying to keep us in line and prepare us for high school. Remember our trip that year? College campuses have not yet returned to normal. The turn of the century brought its problems, we were in high school! Remember how lost we were those first weeks? As winter came, we participated in sports. Whata team we had--most of the boys and six freshmen girls tried to play basketball. In the tenth grade, we cut those frogs, real surgeons, weren't we? That year, Andrew Johnson came. Remember how quiet he was at first? Boy, has he ever changed! Oh what fun we had fixing the fence for the prom. I doubt any of us have forgotten the wonderful time we had that night and the following night was just as memorable. Our senior year held lots of hard work. Remember choosing mascots and superlatives? Then, there was our senior play. What a laugh! Oh! Don t forget! We were able to change the stone of our class rings to blue. How can we ever forget the fun we had in Washington, D,C. ! Reckon the hotel will ever forget? The familiar sound of Pomp and Circumstance was music to our ears. This time, our long awaited dream had come true. We faced the world with the future in our own hands. The training that the teachers at Cleveland High School gave us prevented the future from being so bleak and bare. The future of our class proved just as successful as the past. Some of us have really distinguished ourselves. Have you heard about Bruce Stephenson? I hear that he is now a Congressman up in Washington. Is it really true that Gary McGee is now the pharmacist in a large Chicago drugstore, owned by Wayne Coats? You know, since high school, I've lost track of so many. . . say, is Andrew johnson still playing basketball with the Boston Celtics ? ' I heard from Barbara McGee last week. She's working as a fashion consultant for Macy's, and Willa Mae Byrd is modeling her designs. I met julia Langdon on the street last week. She informed me that she, Linda Langley and johnie King are now commanding robots in the Raleigh branch of IBM. Did you see The News and Observer yesterday? North Carolina has received two well-known lab technicians-- judy Thrower and Mary Ann Stephenson--who are working at Wake Memorial Hospital. They say Frank Austin is still trying to figure out the bookkeeping system set up by his secretary, Cecelia Stephenson. It sure was nice talkin to ou Rick but I must et back to the cam us for m next class--trigonomet . 9 Y , Y, 9 P Y YY I've got to get back to work, too, Rose. I have an appointment with Ken Stephenson, a Massey-Ferguson repre- sentative, about a new tractor I have designed. And so, as time passes, our class shall continue to make as much history as previously stated. This was the third consecutive County and Tourna- ment Championships for the Rams. After successfully defending their crown they represented the county in the District III Play-offs at Rocky Mount. They proved to be very successful only losing in the final game at Red Oak who later was the runner up for the State Class A Cham- pionship. The Rams finishe d the season with a 24-2 Won-Lost Record. Page Eighty-eight iL1 O Hit the basket! I The Defending Champion Rams continued their win- ning way and won the Johnston County Championship for the Second Consecutive Year. The Rams ended the season with an 11-2 Won-Lost Record. The season's highlight was a perfect no-hit, no-run game pitched by junior left hander Johnie King. The Rams after losing their first game proved to be tough competition for the other teams in the conference. The Rams represented the county in district play, but was defeated 7-3 by Angier.
