Now as we walk down life's new road Which leads through paths unknown May those before and after us Give us a helping hand. Our debt to education to pay, We must begin each bright new day With thoughts and heartfelt gratitude To those who showed the way. To our parents and teachers alike we owe Honesty, sincerity and loyalty, For no one can ever measure Our gain of a lifetime to treasure. Let us hold our heads up high, While locked inside is our desire That those who have sent us on our way Will be truly proud of us someday. Now we are the maker of our 1ife's key, With help and strength from above. In Him who reigns from the heavenly pl Let us securely place our trust. Yesterdays are gone, today is here. Our tomorrows seem frighteningly near. May all we have gained in these twelve Guide us and steer us clear. -Jean Blalock Knowledge comes, but wisdom l1ngers. C lass 3 lower Blue and White Carnation 11.51 ,jk In ! 35 ace, short years, C lass Colors Blue and White Class History In the fall of 1953, a group of energetic travelers began a journey that was to last twelve years. During our years of Elementary School, we pa.rticipated in many new and 'exciting experiences. These eight years prepared 'us for the last four years of our journey. Eight years we had traveled, and at last we were in high school-Freshmen-a new and exciting experience. As we began our four-year journey in high school, we were led by Andy Partin, President, Joan Smith, Vice-President, Barbara Hawkes, Secretary, and Ronnie Stephenson, Treasurer. Carol Holder became a member of the cheering squad. We traveled comparatively quietly through our first year of high school. In the second year of high school, we began to take a larger part in activities offered by the school. Those in the monogram club were I. C. Matthews, Sidney Sauls, Donald Johnson, E.O.Adams, Ronnie Stephenson, Kent Trader, Dewey Raynor, Bernice Hardee, Brinda Johnson, Carolyn Stephenson, and joan Smith. Our more scholastically apt were inducted into the Beta Club. They were E. O. Adams, Betty Dupree, Bernice Hardee, Barbara Hawkes, Daisy Honeycutt, Phyllis Jones, Helen Morris, Joan Smith, and Annette Wall. Our officers were Sid Sauls, President, Phyllis Jones, Vice-President, Carol Holder, Secretary, and I. C. Matthews, Treasurer. In our travel through the Junior year our activities became more exciting. Our Junior class officers were E. O. Adams, President, Keith Langdon, Treasurer, Daisy Honeycutt, Secretary, and Bernice Hardee,Vice-President. Barbara Hawkes became a cheerleader that year. Teresa Stephenson also became a member of the Beta Club. One of the more exciting occurrences was our junior-Senior Prom. We visited the State College Student Union for this bit of enjoyment. For outstanding achievements in 4-H, Sidney Sauls traveled to Chicago for the 4-H Congress. At last we reached our destination. Rings, senior play, senior prom and graduation-all of these made up our last year of travel. Our leaders were Donald Johnson, President, Dewey Raynor, Vice-President, Annette Wall, Secretary, Helen Morris, Treasurer, and Gayle Byrd, Reporter. New students to arrive during the Senior year were Judy Pulley, Donald Honeycutt, Helen Penny, and David McSwain. During the year we saw the formation of the R P M'S Combo, a Glee Club was formed, also. Several of the Seniors became members. We ended our Senior travels with a trip to Washington, D.C.
