H!5'f06'l' Our Senior Class of 1958 began its 12 years of scholastic training in September of 1946. Those eight years in grammar school passed slowly but with many achievements, defeats, failures, and much excitement. Finally, the long awaited year came when we were Freshmen in high school, bringing the excitement of changing classes and teachers. Those with athletic abilities selected to be on the basketball team were Gayle Bailey, Gayle Ennis, Genevieve Langdon, and Cronin Byrd, who also participated in baseball. Being familiar with high school, we returned to begin our Sophomore year with Mr. John Walker replacing Mr. N. G. Woodlief as principal. With him came many new rules and regulations. Katherine Langdon was presented the home-economics award for her many achievements. Additions to the ball clubs were Barbara Sherrill. B. A. Johnson, Atlee Roberts, Glenn Clifton, Mitchell Price, Chester Honeycutt, James Coats, and Weldon Byrd. Highlights making our Junior year so outstanding were the production of the Junior Play and the Junior -Sen- ior Banquet and Prom, sponsored by Mrs. L. D. Boyette and Mrs. Helen A. Gulley. That year we welcomed Ronald and Donald Johnson from Wilson Mills and Harold Clifton from Four Oaks to our class. We had two Juniors to distinguish themselves. They were Chester Honeycutt, who was awarded the chem- istry medal, and Cronin Byrd, who was presented the history and math awards. In sports activities Harold Clifton was placed on the basketball team, and Martha Johnson and Edith Byrd, on the cheering squad. We selected our annual staff and ordered our class rings near the close of the year. Class Marshals were Marie Beasley, chief, and Genevieve Langdon who ushered at Class Night when we presented rose arches to the Seniors. At last the time most dreamed of had arrived. We were Seniors! One of our greatest thrills was receiving our class rings. This is our history, and to you our Alma Mater we say farewell.
