Commercial, Music Helping students who intend to do clerical types of work upon graduation is the aim of the commercial de- partment. The curriculum, comprised of law, English, math, typing, and shorthand, prepares them to fill posi- tions in various businesses. The development of musical talents, whether instru- mentally or vocally, is undertaken by the music depart- ment. Courses in music literature and music apprecia- tion may be taken in conjunction with chorus, band or orchestra to provide a subject major. Gentile Science New developments in the science de- partment this year include increasing the efficiency of teaching by reducing the size of classes, examining the need for honor courses, and developing a new general science course. Recently appointed coordinator of the science department, Mr. John Langmead feels that science courses have three main objectives the most important being con- tributing to the scientific development of the student. Departmental coordination of indus- trial arts is now being conducted by Mr. James F. Nemastil. ARRANGING the Social Room Christmas display puts Miss McKenna in a gay, holiday mood. Including both gym and hygiene teach- ers, the physical education department provides students with the facilities for developing their minds and bodies. This department is coordinated by lNIr. Stephen Hering. By taking three periods of gym per week each student learns good sports- manship. In the junior year each student is required to take two semesters of hygiene. hir.
