Edwards Staffs To attain 100 per cent innoculation against polio has been the goal of the med- ical department which is headed by Mrs. Kathleen Newton and Dr. Ellery P. Edwards. Assisting with research papers and book reports, maintaining pleasant surround- ings, and keeping accurate records occupy much of the time of the efficient librarians. International delights such as Peruvian tuna and Italian marzetti are served often by the trained home economists under Mrs. Georgiana Irons. The secretaries, headed by Mrs. H. By interpreting test results Miss Doris Carey and Mr. Bernard Silk aid seniors in choosing colleges and jobs. Sophomores are advised by Bliss Mary Graham and Mr. Edward Dibner concerning junior and senior pro- gramming. Mrs. Olga Hopper and Mr. Francis Kleinhenz assist juniors in planning their next y'ear's schedules. Bufalini Coordinated by Dr. Leonard Freyman, the members of the English department feel that they have been able to make increasingly effective the course work in English. During the 1959-60 school year, the members of the department have consciously worked on three phases of improving the English instruction for over 9700 students. They have worked primarily on better liaison with the junior high schools and closer correlation of the jun- ior high and senior school work. With emphasis on the final examination they have also worked on a better testing program. Finally, they have concentrated on better work in written composition.
