Harvey EGRESSIVE PELICIE 0E THEIR EDUCATIO AL LEADER The students are given freedom and use it xvellf, The community invests the leadership of its schools in the Board of Education. Responsible for the total school program, these civic-minded citizens select the superintendent and set the policies under whch the schools operate. Dr. Harry Osborn is president of the Board. Uther members are Kfrs. Esther Davis, lwr. Ronald Brown, llr. Chalmer Lutz, and Dr. VVilliam Umbach. Superintendent Hill correlates and supervises the activities of the various branches of the school sys- teni and executes the policies which the School Board determines. Administrative operations are channeled through the Assistant Superintendent, Mr. A. B. Harvey. Their active interest in school projects has made both Mr. Hill and Klr. Harvey well-known at Heights High School.

It is, in fact, the beginning of an 'era' in which the slogan seems to be 'Go ahead, Heightsl' Upperclassmen seem to have caught the 'virusl first and then to have ex- posed those lower in the ranks. This new spirit became epidemic, spreading through campus and classrooms, un- til faculty and Hnally' administration were infectedf, said Mr. lNIorley, reviewing 1951-52 at HHS. An important manifestation of this spirit, he pointed out, was an urgent emphasis on good citizenship training and practice as a first essential school obligation. IQ
