After a bitter struggle, lasting a full nine months, these young Clermontians were promoted to the second grade and had their ranks increased by three with the addition of Frank Bryant, John Cavanaugh, and Barbara Maple. History does not record individual acts but the dirty dozen left their mark in the second grade room and were either pro- moted or pushed on to the third grade teacher at which time Kaye Halstead joined them to make it an even baker's dozen.
