Her last sentence is like a banbshell 'I intend to give each one of your girls a check for 55,000. Winnie is considerably diea ointed until he hits upon the idea of dressing up like a girl and getting his 5,000 also. 'lhe day arrives and with it comes Aunt Sophy The Bufordhs soon find that Aunt Sophronia is a very hard person to live with since she finds fault with everything and is never satisfied. The noisy house and other disconcerting events send Aunt Sophronia off in a huffg but just as she is about to leave, she trips over a foot stool and falls injuring her leg. After several days in the hospital, during which she is kindly treated by all the gentle men present, Aunt Sophronia decides that perhaps boys are quite nice after all. During the year, the soloists and ensembles participated in the Dorian Vocal and Instrumental Festivals held at Inther College. At the Vocal Festival held January 9 and 10 three soloists--Arlene Knudsen, Jo Ann Moore, and Charles Wagner-and the Mixed Double Quartette were chosen to audition for the critic judges. Arlene was selected to sing the soprano solo in S0hub6rt'B m'X1'1lp0tenc9' with the 110.8806 Ch0I'I.1!, J0 Arm ygg 3130 3919315941 gg 033 of the outstanding soloists of the day and was privileged to perform in the Grand Concert on the evening of the lOth. Five of the Mixed Double Quartette members- grlene, Jo Ann, Charles, Gary Gilson, and Iaverne Ssenson--sang in the llassed hO1'l18e 'lhe Instrumental Festival was held March 4 and 5. Cathryn Grove, JoAnn lloore Arlene Knudsen, and Charles Wagner took part in the activities of this festival. Cathryn, Jo Ann, ani Charles presented their solos for the guest criticsg and all three received camnendation for excellent performances. 'lhe Woodwind 'l'r1o--can- posed of Cathryn, Jo Ann, and Charles--also performed and was selected as one of the superior groups of the day to appear in the evening concert. All four of the participants played in the festival llaseed. Band, and Cathryn received the honor of holdirg first chair in the flute section.
