M. D. FARRAR Dean The labs in the Botany Department are well equipped with instruments necessary for the study of small cells and plant growth. SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE Agricultural Economics Agricultural Engineering Agronomy Animal Husbandry Botany Dairy Entomology Horticulture Poultry Pre-Forestry Pre-Veterinary Clemson ' s Agricultural School, which is already recognized as one of the foremost in the nation, is in the process of expanding even more. New departments are being added, and new buildings are going up to train the student for future work in the fields of business, research, industry, and farming. The ag major is greeted his freshman year in Long Hall with Botany and suffers with the others through English, Math, and Chemistry. The pains increase during his sophomore year with Mauldin ' s Organic Chemistry, Frog ' s Zoology, and Lehotsky ' s Farm Forestry plus Litera- ture and Physics. Still the ag student hasn ' t seen much of farming, but the foundations are being laid. As a junior, he begins to branch out into his chosen field, moving into the Lord ' s fold, the Dairy Building, Education Building, or any of the others. He examines the agar in Bacteriology, runs the genetic gauntlet, works fertilizer and feed problems, and moves in to the bees and blossoms. As a senior, he at last gets down to the work he has chosen for himself. He finds that his time is well taken up with seminar reports, theses, labs all week, and outside activities.
