This coat of cardboard mail would scarcely ward off a foe, but Dan May makes a stab at it. This is not what the well-dressed college boy is wearing, just the new pledges in their original and unconventional costumery. It ' s a gay day for all. LITY COUNTS J. COLEMAN W. E. DARBy G. C. TIGER BROTHERHOOD E. M. RALLINGS President A number of welcome changes on the Clemson campus have been effected by our own Tiger Brotherhood, an organization founded in 1928 by a group of student leaders and faculty members as a service and leadership fraternity. Its purpose is to act as a sponsor of tolerance and integrity among Clemson men. Members are gathered from all four classes: freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior, because of their outstanding qualities of character, leadership, and scholarship. In addition to instigating a campus-wide clean-up campaign, the Brotherhood this year obtained lockers for day students and performed numerous other small services to the college. During pledge week, entertainment is furnished by the initiates for the club members and school in the form of a parade through the mess hall and about the school attired in original costumes, but this has come to be expected of almost all organizations and everyone thoroughly enjoys himself. ALPHA PHI OMEGA Composed of men with the earnest desire to be of service to their fellow students, faculty, and community is the Gamrn Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, first organized at Clemson October 6, 1936. Prerequisite to membership in this organization is former membership in the Boy Scouts of America. In addition to this, the prospective member must have shown active interest in earlier college activities and be recognized for his strength of character, integrity, and sincere longing to assume leader- ship. New members are selected and voted on at the beginning of each semester. Alpha Phi Omega has many worthwhile projects to its credit since the chapter was first organized. A few of its beneficial services in the past few years are a relief program to Europe for the needy, a booklet of club informa- tion, desk blotters for all students, and many other useful services both to the campus and community. Other interesting and helpful programs are on the agenda of this organization and it is with the greatest of interest and optimism that the school looks forward to their completion. THEY STAY G. C.
