A Year of Hard Times Hard times seems to express the overall opinion of the 1980 Yellow Jacket team. The season record of 2-7-1 was not exactly what the team hoped for. lt was a season full of hard times, but we never gave up. We hope next year will be a better one. Team cap- tain Joe Franz says I thought it was a much better season than last year as far as the atti- tude of the players. Even though we didn't win many games we never quit. X A E ,hgh -tg x X s if ks The Jacket defense anxiously awaits the Brownwood Lions. After a very hard and hot off season, the Jackets were now ready for the real season. After a few scrimmages and some hard hitting, the Jackets were to open the season against a tough Mineral Wells team. Pumped up and ready for action, Coach Jay McCarty put his team to the test, but the Jack- ets came up short. After a week of preparation, the Jackets traveled to Ennis to take on the state-ranked Ennis Lions. Again, the Jackets came up short and disappointed, losing by a 14-3 score. The following week the Jackets took on the Waxahachie Indians at home. This is the game the Jackets remember best - their 12-7 victory, the first of the sea- son. 4 S R N , M ft ,IE R 2 C f ? -10Vwi:f?5l:5i,i.:?3 . ww VS ,st i-in E W mv .
