The mad scramble at the Kanteen duringlunchtirne, the horror of seeing his books fly everywhere as he walks down the stairs, the hushed reverence during the singing of the Alma Mater - - - in a Jacket's memory, these small occurrences are mixed with the happenings we call school life. With precision and skill, he led the high school band through all the half time activities, all the pep rallies, and through numerous parades, in- cluding one at the State Fair of Texas. Mike attended a training session for drum majors at the Uni- versity of Texas at Arlington during the summer of 1966, His other band activities include vice-president of the band, second chair in the stage band, and third chair in the concert band. Mike is also a member of the Key Club, Directing the Yellow Jacket Band this year was Mr. Tom Whitson. Many hours were spent by him working out routines and band ac- tivities. His duties began during the summer organizing the band mem- bers. The night band practice ses- sions could be heard throughout the city as the band rehearsed for halftimes at football games. The end of football season did not by any means mean the end of the band season. The stage band and concert band made many appearences in and out of Cleburne. The Spring season was highlighted by the band festival. Aside from being band director, Mr. Whitson is president of the local Kiwanis Club. 107 INTERACT CLUB AIDS SCHOOL x, . If v. Coach Wright speaks at a pep rally. With a serious smile and a heart full of love, Coach Bob Wright wonthe respect and admiration of not only the students of Cleburne High School, but the whole com- munity. Coming from Ballinger, Texas, where he was head coach for five years, Bob Wright brought with him the deter- mination to mold the Jackets into a fine football squad. Not only did he turn the Jackets into a fine team, but he made a profound impression upon the student body, Therefore, the editors of the Santa Fe Trail staff would like to say Thank You to a wonderful man. 117 8 row 1: fl to ry Booker T.
