The Best of Times Being at the Top Laura Roberts l a£edCctonlcui VALEDICTORIAN LAURA ROBERTS Laura Roberts is awarded the honor of Valedictorian of the 1986-87 graduating class by having earned the highest academic average in accelerated level classes during grades ten, eleven and twelve. Candidates for the honor graduate program must take their basic classes on an accelerated level and are also required to take as many as two accelerated level electives during each of the three years. Laura's academic average in accelerated level classes is 95.06. Laura is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Jack Roberts of Route 1, Muscadine, Alabama. She is a member of the FBLA, the Drama Club, the Pep Club, the Science Club, The Beta Club, the Student Council, the Annual Staff, and THE TIGER TIMES Staff. Laura is president of the Drama Club and secretary of the Student Council. She received the Biology Award during her Sophomore year and the Anatomy Award during her Junior year. Laura was selected Cutest in the Senior Who’s Who. 18

KAREN WILSON, GIRLS’ STATE REPRESENTATIVE KAREN WILSON — DAR GOOD CITIZEN The Best of Times fo TOfaU Tfau fie Karen Wilson Sweeps Citizenship Honors CCHS’s Citizenship Honors were taken by Karen Wilson. During the spring of her Junior year Karen was selected as CCHS’s representative to Girls’ State. The Girls’ State Convention is held annually in Montgomery during the summer months. It brings outstanding girls together from all over the state for a week of learning about state government. The CCHS representative is sponsored by the Heflin Pilot Club. In the fall of her Senior year Karen was nominated as DAR Good Citizen by members of the Senior Class and selected by the CCHS Faculty. This honor is sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution. Both DAR Good Citzen and Girls’ State are selected on the basis of leadership, dependability, integrity, reputation and service to school and community. Karen is a Senior and the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Hal Wilson of Heflin. She is co-editor of THE TIGER TIMES and the An- nual Staff. Karen is a member of the Pep Club, the Science Club, the Beta Club, the Prom Committee, and SADD. She served as secretary treasurer of the Science Club during her Junior year and is vice president of the Beta Club. Karen was a finalist in the Miss CCHS Pageant and the Miss Christmas Pageant. She was selected Most Likely to Succeed in the Senior Who’s Who and Homecoming Sponsor during her Junior and Senior years. She is a CCHS representative to Hudson’s Teen Board and is an Honor Graduate. 17

SALUTATORIAN CHRISTIE WILSON Christie Wilson % Sa cfaX Utut Christie Wilson is awarded the honor of Salutatorian of the 1986-87 graduating class by having earned the second highest academic average in the class in accelerated level classes during grades ten, eleven, and twelve. Christie’s academic average is 93.89. Christie is the daughter of Mr. Guy Wilson of Fruithurst and Ms. Linda Wilson of Heflin. She is a member of the FBLA, the Drama Club, the Pep Club, the Science Club, the Beta Club, and the Student Council. Christie was secretary of the Drama Club during her Junior year and vice president during her Senior year. She is reporter for the Beta Club and treasurer of the Student Council. She is a member of THE TIGER TIMES Staff and the Annual Staff. Christie received the Biology Award during her Sophomore year and the Anatomy Award during her Junior year. 19
