Homecoming is always THE BEST OF TIME AT CCHS — but Homecoming 1986 was even better! October 3, was the date, and “Tigers, You’re the Heaven in Our Eyes” was the theme. The 1962 Graduating class were the special alum- ni guests. These ingredients mixed with the en- thusiasm of the student body made a lot of memories. Dressing up for special days at school, getting ready for the car parade, the bonfire, the decora- tions, the pep rally, the pregame activites, and finally the game and dance — it was special. We won’t forget! 34 Students fire-up for game time at Homecoming Pep Rally out-back on Friday Afternoon. Monday was “Put Aggies in Shock” Day. Everyone wore the fashionable shocking bright clothes. Tuesday was noise-maker day and for the last time. Wednesday was “Make Aggies Sweat” Day and everyone wore sweatshirts. On Thursday, “Den’em Day”, everyone wore denim clothes and on Friday. “School Color Day”, it was all red and black. Pictured at left are: Teresa Morgan, Lex Brown. CCHS Administration Career Ladder, evaluation instrument, pre- evaluation conference post-evaluation conference, scheduled evaluation, unscheduled evaluation — these are words that make the 1986-87 school year unforgettable for the administration and faculty at Cleburne County High School as they watched the Career Ladder Program change from a pay-incentive plan for teachers to a testing pro- gram for a state-wide teacher evaluation instru- ment for teachers. During first semester Cleburne County School Administrators were trained as evaluators in a five-day training session during which visitors took over the library at CCHS and entered many classrooms for practice runs on the evaluations that would be done during second semester. Each CCHS teacher was evaluated twice during second semester — one scheduled evaluation and the other unannounced. The purpose of these fifty- five minute evaluations was to establish norms for state wide evaluation instrumeht for teachers. Cleburne County High School has an enroll- ment of 774 students in grades seven through twelve. It is accredited by the Southern Associa- tion of Secondary Schools and the State Depart- ment of Education. In order to meet requirements for the Advanced Diploma Program, Spanish I was added as a foreign language during ’86-87. PRINCIPAL MR. ROBERT L. Seventh graders come from one of three feeder hools the County which send their graduates to Cleburne County High School. The feeder schools are Pleasant Grove from the south end of the county, Fruithurst from the northern end of the county and Cleburne County Elementary School from the Heflin and the central area of the county. Students from the three feeder schools are blended into an enthusiastic 7th grade class. Their academic curriculum includes English, mathematics, life science, social studies, music and physical education. Science and Mr. Don Pearce are their favorites. Socially speaking 7th graders can’t wait to meet the older students. They enjoy pizza and Coca Cola and fear making bad grades and being sent to the office. Their favorite musicians are Bon Jovi, Run D-M-C, Janet Jackson and Mrs. Martha Mor- ton of CCHS. Brad Bell A. J. The CCHS Tiger Band’s ’86-87 season began with Band Camp at Comer Scout Reservation in Fort Payne, Alabama, from August 10 through August 15. Their goal was to have the entire field show finished by the end of the camp. When the last groups of eight were marched, a cry went up, for this was the first time in years that the whole show was complete by the end of camp The ’86-87 Edition of the Tiger Band competed in contests at Gadsden, Ranburne, and Pell City during the fall and received Excellent and Superior ratings in these contests. They also hosted a Drum Contest called “Rim Shot.” On every other year, the CCHS Band makes a trip and spring of 1987 found them traveling to Epcot Center, to the Kennedy Space Center and to the beach for a day during spring holidays. She teaches economics and government to Seniors and is Junior High Cheerleader Sponsor. Senior Farewell and Dedication As the end of the 1986-87 school term draws near and the Senior Class of 1987 takes a backward look at its high school experience, many beautiful memories sur- face to remind us of the good times we have had. Truly there are no more treasured memories than our memories of the times that we have spent with our classmates, teachers and friends at Cleburne County High School. We remember fondly the junior high days that we spent at the old high school where many of our parents and grandparents attended school. As soon as we settl- ed ourselves in and discovered the old high school, it came to be a symbol of care-free days and good times as well as reminding us of the mixed emotions of growing up. We began our Sophomore year on a new campus in a new environment. Many of our ideas along with our sur- roundings have changed. We missed the pep rallies on the football field and many other things about the old campus — but the new school was warm, and cool, and dry, and wonderful. Truly our Junior and Senior years have been our best. Sharing the pains and the joys of growing up together has formed a special bond among members of our class. Now as it is time to leave the security of our high school and our friends, we want to say a special thanks to one of our many friends: IN APPRECIATION FOR WHAT YOU MEAN TO US AND FOR THE GOOD TIMES THAT WE HAVE HAD WITH YOU. WE. THE SENIOR CLASS OF 1987. DEDICATE OUR EDITION OF THE TIGER TO MS. NIKKI OWEN. Thank you for THE BEST OF TIMES! Autographs I I I I I I I «
