The theme for Homecoming week was Tigers Will Reign Forever.” Lockers bulletin boards, and doors were decorated to carry out the Homecoming theme; and the school was a collage of color by Friday, November 3. The spirit bubbled and bubbled until it boiled that night when the Tigers came onto the field for the big game to a fanfare of Tiger Rag as helium balloons soared to the sky. The night was a total thrill with the crowning of a beautiful Homecoming Queen, an unforgettable half-time performance by the Tiger Band and a super-super Homecoming victory by the Tigers of 14 to 8 over Childersburg. On Saturday, November 4, the victory was sealed by a highly celebrated Homecoming Dance in the auditorium. OLDSMOBILE Senior Farewell Spring of 1979 has finally come — it is a time to which we Seniors have all looked forward; yet now that it is here, we view our present position with mixed emotions. There is so much to look forward to that we can hardly wait, and yet there are so many memories and ties that make us reluctant to venture forth. We remember 1975-76 — our Freshman year when we were introduced to the exciting and sometimes troublesome world of “high school. This year was a year of leaving behind childhood and taking those first painful steps toward adulthood. In this year we made choices for ourselves and suffered the conse- quences. We participated in many extra-curricular activities and began working to develop our talents and interests. In 1976-77, our Sophomore year, we had learned to cope with high school and were getting well on our way to coping with ourselves. We changed drastically over that summer — the boys were finally big- ger than the girls for sure, but even greater changes were going on inside us. Our confidence began to build as layer upon layer, accomplishment upon accomplishment, we began to shape ourselves into people. We were people whom others recognized as such — we were accepted. We were Juniors in 1977-78 and for the first time the reality of the future bore down on us. We saw our Senior friends preparing for graduation. We already had a token of maturity — our class rings — and many of us wished to recall the past in which to use the time we had wasted. There were the pleasures of co-educational social life and yet there were also the painful experiences which are always mingled with boy-girl relationships — and we were in the full swing of dating. Mainly though, the Junior-Senior, class- rings, and senior portraits merely whetted our appetite for the future. 1978-79 — and presto, we were beginning our Senior year. We were pressed to make decisions, to do all our work and to take care of our “senior things” such as ordering caps and gowns, working on the annual, and acting the way we thought men and women of distinction should act. Suddenly it seemed that time was running out, and we tried frantically to make our preparations for the future before the future got here. Now as we are peeping tentatively over the hill to the possibilities of tomorrow, we wait in anticipation for a chance to use what we have learned and to learn more. We wait for our chance to try ourselves on for size and to compare ourselves against the world. We know that we can succeed or fail; but no matter what we do, we will always be grateful to everyone who helped us to make it this far. 176 Autographs C
