“
We Celebrate the Past in the spirit of seventy-six There was an enormous force which strengthened the colonies, which exists today, and which has carried America through its great history. That force is known to us all to be the Spirit of '76. ” It is a SPIRIT OF LIBERTY and the knowl- edge that one man’s freedom is more important than anything else on earth. It is the SPIRIT OF OPTI- MISM of knowing that we can always make things better — of working only for the best, and expecting only the best. It is tKe SPIRIT OF FRON- TIER — of not fearing to go where man has not reached. It is the SPIRIT OF DIVERSITY — of allow ing every man his own view anti his distinctive ways and of tolerating the differences of the society. John Adams Benjamin Franklin George Washington Thomas Jefferson Alexander Hamilton James Madison John Haneoek It is the SPIRIT OF INDIVIDl ALISM — acknowledging a birthright of opportunity and freedom drawn front the strength of our fathers. Indeed the SPIRIT OF ’76” was, and is, many things, each of which has been a building block of our national greatness. Our country grew on that spirit and prospered on that spirit. When all else fails it is that spirit that will be there to guide us and keep us strong. It is in this Spirit of ’76” that the Annual Staff of Cleburne County High School presents the Spirit of 1976” in this edition of The Tiger 1976 Volume Thirty-One Published by The Senior Class Cleburne County High School Heflin, Alabama 1976 SENIOR CLASS 18 1975-76 MARCHING TIGER BAND The Spirit of the Glo- rious Present Pre- served for Our Future and Treasured in Our Memories — It is our Country’s 200th Birth- day Contents Seniors Dedication Classes Faculty Organiza tions Activities Advertisements The Spirit •★★★★ Homecoming 1975-76” Homecoming is an annual tradition when the Spirit of CCHS rises to celebrate the joy of the present and the accomplishments of the past. Weeks of fun and work went into the decorations, parade, dance, and other homecoming activities which made this year's homecoming an activity long to be remembered. Homecoming Queen Sue Bragg. A seven-three winning record made this Tiger Team the Champions of the 1966-76 decade as they brought back the winning tradition to CCHS. Though other teams may come and go, none can forget the joy of their success. Seven times the student spirit went wild as the football scoreboard flickered victory for CCHS. It is with gratitude and respect that the Seniors of 1976 dedicate this edition of THE TIGER to Mrs. Sonja Adams. Mrs. Adams is a graduate of our own Cleburne County High School where she was head cheerleader along with a host of other activities and accom- plishments which deepened her love for CCHS. She is also a graduate of Jack- sonville State University where she earned both her B.S. and M.S. Degrees. She is married to Mr. Wayne Adams and has a new son, Jonathan, whom the Adams acquired during the '75-'76 school term. 60 Seventh graders are the ones who sit and talk about their love life to anyone and everyone . . . Since the beginning of this school year, she has been planning and organizing the production of our annual. Besides being a guidance counselor, Mrs. Ayers has been a good friend to all. And so with our deepest appreciation, we the Class of 1976, leave Cleburne County High School hoping that Mrs. Ayers will remember us as we will remember her.
