High School is talks between classes, lads and lasses, cram exams, studies, buddies, things to do, a point of view . . . teachers, books, fads, essay questions (make a stab), English themes, cheering screams, volleyball teams, impossible schemes . . . . . .hard work, homework, slow work, no work . . . Listening, talking, thinking, walking, seeing, being . . . This is high school, this and more — High School, perhaps, is many doors. To different kinds of people Is music sacredness? Music tells of sorrow, Music tells of hate. Music can have rhythm Like a swinging gate. Music is a joyous thing We use in work or play. Music is a way of life We must have every day. I can't imagine life without A tune to hum each day. For music is a part of us Though we be sad or gay. The highlight of the evening was that of honoring Mr, James M. Woods who is retiring after 35 years of teaching. He began his teaching career in his home school district. Woods School, in 1920. He taught in several rural schools in the county and in Patterson School. He graduated from Piedmont High School in 1922. He has attended State College at Cape Girardeau. In this long span of teaching, Mr. Woods has reared and educated eight children. He has always had an interest in athletits, having played on his high school basketball team. Mr. Woods cannot remember how many eighth grade di- plomas he has signed in his 35 years of teaching. He received a new suit as a gift from the teachers of Clearwater Schools. The faculty wishes for Mr. Woods many happy years in his retirement. School Calendar 1964-65 AUGUST School opened MARCH 31 11-12 Cape Teachers' Meeting SEPTEMBER 17 F. H. A. Throughout our days at C. H. They have acknowledged our every plea and have aided us in our every endeavor, so that we are ready for the most difficult challenge of all--life it- self. 89 Catholic Youth Council This youth group meets weekly for detailed study and discussion of sacred scripture and theology at St. Catherine Church.
