National Honor Society adopted a new policy for membership. Applications were distributed to those who fit the grade-point aver- age criteria, 3.7 for juniors and 3.5 for seniors. Teacher recom- mendations were not needed. Members were inducted in their traditional candlelight ceremony. Gubernatorial candidate Jack Eck- erd was the guest speaker. State Senator Don Chamberlin also spoke at a NHS meeting. The Society held a progressive dinner and planned a roller skating party and tubing excursion. Under President Alice Harra, the chapter decided to hold a used records, books and tapes sale to raise money for a color cassette-video tape machine for the English depart- ment. Shari Moore kept records as Secretary-Treasurer. Gary Stere was Vice President. The Pub picnic with the competi- tion between the staffs of Aqua Clara and Clearlight was a hilari- ous showing of strength. A pro- posed water exploration, either by tubes or canoes, was planned for Spring. Advisor Thomas Pierce maintained equilibrium during flight 78.
