Independent Study Offered Challenges est. At the beginning of second semester, 30 students launched into the enlarged Independent Study pro- gram, under the leadership of Mr. Richard Martinez, faculty sponsor. These students worked with teacher advisors to coordinate study plans and decided their own evaluation procedures. Class attendance was not compulsory and students went on field trips, attended Junior College classes, and did special research proj- ects. Publications Staffers Received Honors Inductions in the fall and the spring brought out- standing journalists from Aqua Clara, Clearlight, and Fathoms staffs into Quill and Scroll, the International Honor Society for High School Journalists. Inductees received membership cards and pins, and subscrip- tions to the national Quill and Scroll magazine. Quill and Scroll activities included a club breakfast and a picture sale at the end of the year.
