It takes more than a knowledge ot cooking and sewing to become a successful homemaker. A three year course is ottered at C.H.S. which includes Personal, Social, and Family Relationships, Home Care, ln- terior Decoration, Family Finance and Management, Clothing Construction and Textiles, Child Develop- ment, Home Nursing, and Food Preparation and Meal Planning. General Music is for the person who is interested in music, but knows little about it. Mixed Chorus, a selected singing group, chosen for interest, ability, and willingness to work, sings at school functions plus many community programs, Madrigal Singers, a small and talented group, perform often for school and community. The band offers instrumental music students an oppor- tunity to further develop their individual talents and ensemble playing. Our Tornado Band plays at the football games, marches in all local parades, and provides a general boost to srltool spirit. Our Industrial Arts program includes General Shop, Arts and Crafts, and Mechanical Drawing. General Shop students learn to make useful wood products. The Arts and Crafts course aims primarily to develop an ability in students to make useful things for themselves from ceramics, copper, other metals, and leather. lt includes the development of an ability to use leisure time by filling it with profitable work. Mechanical Drawing has been called the Language of lndustry, but engineers, architects, and all designers use it to record their ideas.
