Cl-1.5. SHOWBOAT As Sophomores . . . i'Woo-wool Last call for passengers! All aboard ? ltis 1950 on our own fascinating Show- boat, which glides down the river of the past, leaving behind wide rippling streams of happy memories. First we must climb below deck, unload our belongings, and begin working in the boiler rooms of the C. H. S. Showboat like Trojans at our new jobs as ye sophomore crewmenfl To keep every wheel spinning, our favorites, Charles, lean, Brown, and Dick lead us through fears and won- derment during this great year. During Spohomore Week we, the silly seafar- ing strangers, get thrown around, stomped on, plowed under, and finally held up for approval by our hoving juniors and seniors. The boiler girls of the class play a fine brand of football on the front lawn, while the boys make out like'the Chattanooga Shoeshine Boy, and all of us dance about in a mile-long conga line, but we get re- venge at the swell dance afterwards, climaxing our first real step of getting to know the upper classmen. Then time out for a real footbal season, when Dick, Gene, and Bobby ioin the fighting Torna- does who not only capture the Pinellas County Trophy, but also the S. F. C. Championship. Aren't we proud when Barbara decks the Home- coming Court as the lone sophomore attendant? Christmas, with all its gaiety and crispness, flies by as we sheepishly get in on the famous formal dances, parties, and more rare times. We spy Dick and Bobby, along with the upper crewmen surging their way to fame as basketball stars this year, also. Then comes May Day, as Jessie, Bobby, jean, and Danny serve as class attendants in the Queens Court. Ah! Those delightful May Pole Dancers -what timingl? Thus closes our first attempt at success on the C. H. S. Showboat as mere boiler- room keepers, while we're dancing to dreamy graduation music. G. I-I. S. Sl-IOWBOAT As Juniors . . . A strong wind guides us now on the pathway to 1951 as our C. H. S. Showboat makes a change in the crew and big wheels. This year we, the juniors, step up on deck to keep it clean and ship shape for each new voyage. Were in a mess now, for not only do the eager sophs ask us what to do, but the p. Cf? seniors tell us what to do . . . do itf We have our problems, but with and when . . . and where ',.. and why to S Clyde, Bob, Barbara, and Brown guiding usihow can we lose? The Showboat now boasts four junior cheerleaders, Bezy, Jessie, jean, and Mary Lou, who probably have the big gest mouths in our class? Beaming faces light up even more as Bobby crowns Jes- eqgg1zA1uuna,,s sie, ueen of Homecoming with jean as Spellman and the team for a fine season Q QL, -. 1 i f we an attendant. Three cheers for Coach T O and lots of top ball playing. Also, in the , 9 sports highlights are Dick and Bobby again, this time as captains of the bas- X Wy ketball squad, while many other sharp- 'I A shooting 'deckmen' aid their cause. Lucky Bobby gains a berth Qalmost captainj on the S. F. C. team, The ,I tennis and golf teams win the con- , ference titles, too, while the Tornado if C 2 baseball and track men deserve high votes of praise.

Richard and Brown, clever wits that they are, penned and produced May Time, with joel as the fair star. All the crew turns out for this grand affair as Bezy and Richard are crowned Queen and King of May Day. The junior-Senior Prom-at last. Each deck hand sheds his blues, jumps into Saturday-goin- a-dancing best and spends a frivolous evening in St. Pete at the Soreno Hotel-'many feet soak- ing in hot water hereafter! Remember all the punch the punch has? We all feel fine now! Look at my senior ring? Aren't we just crazy over the thought of becoming a big senior when our class jewelry comes? Then our gallant seniors, the great captains, graduatew-a tear in your eye? Could be we're sort of afraid and excited about being the stars next year. Sure are going to miss their faithful guid- ance, but the Showboat doesn't take Time Out For Tears! ,f - ,Q vp s QR J is Q' gi 135. -Q- As Seniors . . . Summer gone already? How time our big chance as star commanders of the whole crew! Wheels of this, the big gest and best year yet, are Charles, Clyde Cynthia, and Eugene, who really click 11 as leaders. i 'Q -- Si flies on our Showboat, but now it's really i !l Bob keeps the student government on the ball this year as Mr. Shambaugh, and Miss Myers graciously serve us as class advisors in 1952. The cheerleaders add seniors Dolores and joel to their rare half-score. Remember the wild trips to Tampa, Winter Haven fthe Grapefruit Brig- adenj and especially to Fort Myers to the basket- ball tournament? Homecoming brings jean as the lovely Queen, while Jessie, Bezy, and Barbara from the com- manders are in the court. Why Dick isnt the least bit shaky?! They win for us too, and aren't we happy as the Tornadoes fight a season of tough games showing they really have the mak- ings! Z The time rolls around for us to order our grad- uation invitations, cards, and best of all, our dear caps andfgowns. It won't be long now before we'll be saying farewells to the entire crew. No chance for skipping school now since they let us out for both the county fair and Gasparilla. Q'Z 6 Our Showboat band cruises up to Washington in April to march in the big Cherry Blossom Festival. It has pre- sented some very fine programs with stars Barbara, Lou Ann, Esther, and all the rest showing much talent. Praise also to the song birds of the crew who chalk up a remarkable record at contests and present a marvelous Spring Concert, also. 395 May Day the Prom Senior Skip Day, the Ban- quet-all draw us a little nearer to our very own graduation. To the deep strains of Pomp and Circum- stance we march, quietly, but with -heads held high. For now, we the class of 1952, must go into the world and try to master it. We shall never forget the memories of the dear C. H. S, Showboat as we strive to win our newly sought goals, Wfith dampened cheeks we sadly bid goodbye ..........
