-1 -of W, X at Y The Trials And Tribulations Gf Being A Freshman No one wants to be a fresh- man, it just happens! Freshmen themselves try to act like sopho- mores, unless of course some- one mistakes them for what they truly are. When asked, sopho- mores and juniors, as they try to recall that dreaded year, smile and simply say that they cannot remember. Seniors claim they never were freshmen. liowever, freshmen should take heart. Their lives are pretty easy at this point. Without ago- nizing term papers to do or an- noying current events to finish in homeroom, freshmen have an opportunity to enjoy life. These exceptional students automati- cally have an excuse to act goofy - remember, they're freshmen. Their first year is not just fun and games. Adjusting to a new school, different teachers, locker V, .. , its Tania Brett Crwen Bruen Briana Brugner combinations, and strange faces can be a traumatic experience. Welcome Week, a Central tradi- tion, brings out the freshman in everyone, and is not too soon forgotten. Being the lowest rung on the ladder adds confusion to high school. Freshmen need to take pride in the fact that they are essential to CCC's spirit. At the beginning of each year, new personalities bring vitality. As the years pro- gress, freshmen mature and will one day bravely look back on the memories of their freshman year with fondness, and maybe a little embarrassment. A freshman's goal is to be- come a sophomore. This finally allows them to snicker and sneer at next year's freshmen, who stumble into school that very first day.
