we F if . BOYS TENNIS CAT GU TS SPEAK Wooshing through the air, I suddenly meet a fuzzy sphere that rebounds against my tightly woven strings. A powerful force guides me along, swing after swing. I am an extension of the human arm, the tennis racket. I am an important part of the team. This season I 've witnessed the CCC Marauder tennis team ace their way to districts. The 14 team Districts were held in St. Pete on April 16 and 17. Central was second best for the third consecutive season. As a result of Marc Kudellco's inju- ry, further advancement in dis- tricts became impossible. jeff Becker comments, With 194 all our players healthy, we would ha ve done a better job. I t's a shame that Marc got hurt play- ing volleyball because he was the defending state champion. He never got a chance to defend his title. y Overall the team -1 was fairly successful, L as an essential part of the team, saw the great amount of dedication that each player put forth. This racket with strings made of cat gut can truely say that although I take a lot of abuse, I am anxious to be included on next year's superb tennis team.

CHEERLEADERS VIBRATE 3 Qc 3 as i SPIRIT FLYING I-IIGI-I Hanging from the ponytail, I the tied ribbon, see all the spirit and excitement present in the Varsity Cheerleading Squad. I-'or the nine juniors it was exciting to be a varsi- ty cheerleader, said co-captain, fa- milynn jackson, We got to cheer for the Homecoming game and the big State game. Cheerleading is hard work. The dedicated squad members were in charge of organizing pep rallies, decorating players' homes before Homecoming and State games, competing in camps over the sum- mer, passing out candy to team members, and even decorating their lockers. Not all of these ac- tions were recognized by the play- ers. Sometimes the players were too busy concentrating on their games and overlooked their constant ef- forts to give support. Yet, the ex- perts on giving joy continued to find special ways to increase spirit on each Marauder team. Over the summer they won two excellent and one superior ribbons in a cheerleading camp. The activi- ties of this camp showed them that each one of them has a lot to offer the squad and they are a unique combination of talents and personalities. As bold-colored bows atop the cheerleaders heads, we accent the brightness that they display throughout the year, The squad members have many memories to reflect upon and share, each will next year attempt to return to the Varsity Squad that influences CCC's spirit to fly high.
