The entire student body celebrated the Mass in the McLaughlin Center with the ac- companiment of Bishop W. Thomas Larkin and other local parish priests. Special student intentions were made for suc- cess throughout the year academically, athletically, spiri- 5 tually, and socially. Following the Mass was the oath with student leaders M we promising to serve the school and their fellow students to the best of their ability.

Welcome Week Imtlates The Newcomers The eager newcomers are officially part of the Central community during the initiating welcome week. The Stu- dent Council gave the newcomers unique gifts which they had to carry with them throughout the week. The freshmen also received gifts and party hats which caused slight embarrass- ment to distinguish them as the young class of 1990. The week ended with a senior-freshman picnic which served as a way to acquaint the fresh- men with the seniors. Freshmen class president Christie Lyman felt this was a good idea because she and her classmates met many seniors and were able to speak to them at one level. fi
